Video Autoplay on Mobile Devices
Videos in HTML5 banners can autoplay on mobile devices with iOS 10.x and Chrome 53.x and up video autoplay is supported, as long as the video is muted. By using our Video API you can easily set this:
Currently, autoplay is only available by playing inline. It is not possible to autoplay the fullscreen device player, only user initiated.
Unfortunately it is not possible to autoplay videos on mobile websites and mobile applications lower than iOS 10 and Chrome 53. Weborama does have an alternative method to make it possible to autoplay your video on all mobile devices.
|iOS 10.x and up||iOS 9.x and below||Chrome 53.x and up||Chrome 52.x and below|
|According to Android (Februari 21, 2017):||According to Apple (Februari 21, 2017):|
Currently, autoplay is only supported in iOS 10 and Chrome, not in all device browsers. Chrome is available on phones and tablets running Android 4.1+ (Jelly Bean). On Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), Chrome version 42 and lower will work, but cannot be updated.
Alternative solution for previous iOS and Chrome.
Weborama compromises this alternative solution by showing a sequence of images that are captured from a shorter video (max. 5 seconds). For your ad with autoplay, you deliver the same content including your original video.mp4, but add another shorter video (autoplay.mp4) to the flight in our Previewer tool. The autoplay video can be a summary of the full video, with only the highlights (such as a teaser), or the first 5 seconds of the original video. Note that the autoplay video will only show the image sequence so there is no audio. It is possible to loop the image sequence. When a user clicks on the image sequence, the full video will play and the user has the normal video experience.
When notifying Weborama, please mention that it is an autoplay flight. For a flight with autoplay please deliver the following:
- A summary/teaser video.mp4 (max 5 seconds)
- The full video.mp4
